Andrej Kljakovic comes from a family with a strong artistic background. His grandfather Zivko Kljakovic and grand-uncle Jozo Kljakovic were painters, draughtsmen, fresco artists and writers. His father Vanca Kljakovic was a film, TV and theatre director, as well as a screenwriter and theatre actor. His mother is a film, theatre and TV actress and author. His cousin Tisja Kljakovic is also a painter and author.
Andrej began as a classical pianist at the age of seven. He went on to lead prominent eclectic jazz groups such as Lotus, Kljakovic Eklektik Company and, most notably, the cult band Voices Of Nature, where he invented an Afro-Arabic-type language. After completing his studies at the Paris Jazz Conservatory, he moved to London where he became a record producer, working for major record companies in his own studio. He signed a publishing deal with Bucks Music and a record deal with IDM Music, which released many of his albums. Soon after, Andrej began to compose and arrange music for musical theatre. His Tesla Rock Opera is a multimedia spectacle directed by world-renowned director and opera singer Kobie van Rensburg. Following Tesla Rock Opera, Andrej wrote the libretto and music for the multimedia opera ‘Transfiguration’, based on High Renaissance painters such as Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo.
Inspired by this work featuring genius painters, Andrej began dreaming in colours, shapes and forms, which led him to become a visual artist. He has held several exhibitions along the Adriatic coast. His latest project currently in development is Krisopia – a magical musical-opera about a Leprechaun healer who must save the Crystal Castle from dark sorcery with her enchanted mushroom potions.
