Andrej Kljakovic is a Croatian composer and visual artist with artistic family background. Andrej has a long career as a pianist/ composer and using his compositional skills he went on to transform his sonic ideas into visual art. He feels a strong connection between music and visual art, therefore working with a painting surface is nothing more than a dialogue between the conscious and unconscious mind of familiar verses unknown. With his work, Andrej finds that it is necessary to explore the depths of the unconscious forces that exist in us which are dormant and to preserve higher spheres and dimensions of life that allows us to approach the highest of our being.

PICCOLO PARADISO

It took me some time to do Piccolo Paradiso and I had no idea what the paintings were suppose to depict. It was manipulating a chance until a picture started talking to me. I used here high relief with homemade textural paste and I applied caoutchouc glue, acrylics, spray and enamel paints. The picture was painted directly through me, without any preliminary drawing, and with great force.

FLOR DE LA MAR

I’m a passionate sea diver and as a kid I often dreamed about ship wrecks and hidden treasures. Very recently I discovered a fascinating story about a Portuguese ship that went down in the Indian Ocean called Flower Of The Sea. The ship still lies at the bottom of the sea bed and undiscovered with a large treasure trove destined for the Portuguese king. I wanted to make a model of that treasure chest just from my imagination. I used my homemade texture paste, hot pistol gun that created intricate cob web type relief, imitating green sea algae that has grown over many years. I painted it with green spray paint and applied gold paint in the middle of the circles. Then I thought of some kind of Mark Rothko rich red colour field idea so I painted it with red enamel, followed by another texture of orange spray paint. Then I used very glossy vanish to make it more illuminating and radiating.
